New Tulsa Speedway ready to open

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (May 30, 2021) - It has been a long time coming, but now it is time to go racing at the New Tulsa Speedway.

Located on the grounds of Tulsa Raceway Park, construction of the New Tulsa Speedway has been a two year long project that has finally come to fruition.

Friday night, June 4, the gates will swing open, the lights will go on, and racing on the high-banked quarter mile will get underway. It will be the first time since 2005, when the original Tulsa Speedway closed, that dirt track racing for stock cars, modifieds, midgets and sprint cars will have a home to race again in Tulsa.

The Sooner Late Model Series will highlight Friday’s opener. The Oklahoma based series, which runs at various tracks from Texas to Kansas will bring a competitive field of open motor late models to test the high banks.

A-Modifieds, Factory Stocks and winged Champ/305 Sprints will also be on the inaugural program.

Pit gates will open at 2 p.m., spectator gates open at 5. Hot laps will hit the track at 7 with the first green flag dropping at 7:45.

Entrance to the dirt track will be clearly marked from the main road. Pit passes at $35, grandstand admission is $15.
