Beason battles to POWRi West victory

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (July 9, 2021) - The POWRi West midgets visited Tulsa Speedway for the first time Friday and it was Broken Arrow’s Jonathan Beason picking up a hard fought victory in the 25-lap A-Feature.

Andrew Deal led the field to from the green, but it was Andrew Felker jumping out to the early lead. Felker set a strong pace with Tanner Berryhill and Beason trying to catch up. With several yellows slowing the action, Berryhill and Beason caught Felker and the three battled up front throwing slide jobs on each other. After a late results Beason sailed past Berryhill and Felker for the lead and he raced to victory, his second straight with the series. Felker and Berryhill settled for second and third respectively. Pole sitter Deal was fourth.

Brandon Fogle started on the pole and went the distance to pick up his first USRA B-Mod victory. Jordan Barbee finished in second with Jack Kirby hanging on to third.

Dalton Garrison started outside front row and quickly moved into the lead in the factory stock feature. Garrison raced unchallenged to pick up his second straight victory.

The NOW600 sanctioned Dwarf Cars made their first appearance of the season and Rob McQuary won over a 17-car field. Paul York started on the pole, but fell to second where he finished.

The 305 / Champ sprints return next Friday along with USRA modifieds, factory stocks, mini stocks and junior mini stocks.

Race time is 7:45 p.m.
