The Ronnie Hobbs World Finals Will See Champions Crowned

As the Summit Racing Equipment Midwest Drag Racing Series approaches the final race of the 2025 season, The Ronnie Hobbs World Finals promises to name champions in an epic fashion. The race will be held simultaneously with the American Sprint Car Series race at Tulsa Speedway combining 360 Sprint Cars on the dirt track and Pro Mod on the drag strip for the first-ever "Double Down" in T-Town. On top of that, in memory of Ronnie Hobbs there will be a $10,000 shootout for Pro Mod on Friday night, bringing the total winner's purse up to a possible $30,000 for the weekend.

In Pro Mod, the championship chase could barely be tighter. With a 2 point lead, Jacob McNeal holds the most tenuous lead over 2019 champion Aaron Wells. With 20 points awarded per round, the lead represents just 2 positions in qualifying worth of seperation. With Wells taking a win earlier in the season in Tulsa, he certainly knows how to go rounds at his home track. McNeal however, has had a different route than usual for champions at the MWDRS. Jacob missed the first race of the season at Xtreme Raceway Park and fighting some mechanical trouble early in the year.

Meanwhile in Pro 4.20, reigning champion David Pierce has to fend off D-Bar-D's Derroll Hubbard with the slimmest of 1 point margins. Pierce and Hubbard have split every 4.20 win this season with the exception of the Summer Smackdown at Flying H. Interestingly, Hubbard and Pierce hadn't met in the finals until the last event in Flying H, where Pierce claimed victory.

In Top Dragster, the Pennington crew is headed towards history as they attempt to complete the first ever "Trifecta" in MWDRS History. With Keith Youngblood gunning for the Race Star Wheels Top Dragster championship, Karlee and Jovee Brundidge look to lock down the Zimmerman Sportsman Junior and Race Star Wheels Pro Junior Championships. This would mark the first ever time Pennington Motorsports has won a Mid-West Championship and they would do it in style, becoming the first ever team to win 3 championships in a single season. It should be noted that second in points to Keith Youngblood in Top Dragster and the only other racer mathematically in the hunt is Kati Laughter, who is also a proud member of Pennington Motorsports.

Dirt track and drag strip unite at the Double Down on October 17-18th at Tulsa Raceway Park and Tulsa Speedway. Parking is just $25 per carload and admission is free for all ages! The Mid-West Drag Racing Series is proud to stream free on Youtube and Facebook.
